Hi, I’m Jacob, head craftsman at Viridis Jewellery. I started this venture in 2024, with just A small workshop just outside of London, based near Tenterden, Kent. Our sole reason for existence is to break down the illusion that fine jewellery needs to cost the earth. Everyone should have access to quality without the compromise of cost.

All our pieces are handmade in our workshop, we do not have a physical shop or retail outlet other than our website, which means when you buy a piece from us, you’re buying directly from the workbench. No retailer, no faff, no corporate targets. Just real people selling to real people.

Viridis, Latin for ‘Green’ (my surname) was the pseudonym I created for myself in 2024 so that I could sell my work without my employer at the time finding me. I never did find out if it worked!

before the growth of Viridis, I had a career working as a bench jeweller, creating high quality pieces for top London jewellers including Garrard, Hancocks, Bentley & Skinner and Asprey’s, as well as privately working with celebrity clients and many confidential requests. I, like others in the industry trained on the job initially starting my career in 2021. after 3 years I enrolled at the British Academy of Jewellery in Camden, London, and earned myself my HNC alongside my continued work. I am also proud to be an SBA Small Business Awards Finalist for 2026 Representing Tunbridge Wells.

I really, really love what I do. Like, really. Seeing jewellery I remember making on people’s hands is an amazing feeling. I’ve had the honour of producing jewellery for retirement gifts, bereavement mementos, Engagements, Weddings, birthdays and everything in between. I’ve had the most wonderful, amazing, joyous clients, family and friends supporting me on this journey, and I cannot wait to see what more I can do with this.

Sustainability

We source 100% recycled metal where possible, and work with Hatton Garden suppliers to source conflict-free and ethically sourced gemstones and materials. we are mindful of the impact we make, and choose our suppliers for credibility and trustworthiness over cost. If you have any concerns over origin, conflict free stones or the environmental impact of your jewellery, we can advise on best practises.

Transparency in the industry

we are dismayed to see that some have taken it upon themselves to wholesale jewellery while fronting as handmade craft businesses, sometimes even posting convincing, but fake, videos of jewellery being produced.

In the interest of customer trust and industry transparency, we promise to be truthful about our production methods. we never buy finished jewellery from other outlets, so what you find on our website is guaranteed to be handmade by us.
